REPIPES & WATERLINES

WaterLine Process

Repipe & Waterline Process

Our plumbers at Day & Nite Plumbing & Heating know that when we do a Repipe or Waterline Replacement the environment we are working in is your home, or workspace. We realize this is an inconvenience and don't treat your home or workspace like an unfinished construction site. So we take measures to protect your property and though we won't go unnoticed we hope to be as unobtrusive as we can while installing your new waterline or replacing piping in your home. We also recognize that this decision is not a minor expense and for us to do it means to do it right for a good, safe, long-lasting installation.

When a repipe or waterline for your home is being executed we use a Licensed Plumber. This is required by the State of Washington as well as pulling a permit. The types of permits required may vary depending on the scope of work being done and the specific requirements for the jurisdiction to where your home or business is located. In every case a permit is necessary as well as a Licensed Plumber executing the installation of a Repipe or Waterline. This practice allows you not to solely have to rely on the expertise of our Licensed Day & Nite Plumber but know that a city inspector will insure that our installation will meet or exceed code expectations.

Day & Nite Plumbing & Heating will provide an estimate of what the repipe or waterline will cost. Our estimates outline the scope of work and are written on a Proposal. This is so that when you decide to have our plumbers execute the work you don't need to worry about the price changing for the scope of work you have agreed on once our plumbers have started the work.

Depending on the size of your repipe or waterline replacement it may be necessary to execute over several days. Being without water during this period can be an issue. With Day & Nite Plumbing & Heating, our plumbers keep loss of water usage to a minimum. Often we are able to keep most or all fixtures in service during the repipe or waterline replacement and only have the water off during short periods of transition.

We take care to protect your property while we are working in your home. Our experienced plumbers plan piping routes to offer a quality install and help minimize opening walls and ceilings. We also take the time to secure the site, not leaving unprotected holes and cleaning up debris that may be created during the process of installation. Today many waterlines are great candidates to for using trenchless technology to bore a waterline. This can be cost effective, reduce time of installation, and keep excavation to a minimum.

Why Repipe My Home or Replace My Waterline?

Most homeowners who are considering repiping their home or replacing their waterline are because they are having problems with their current system. Below are some scenarios of typical reasons and issues that have caused some homeowners to consider a repipe.
• Frequent repairs.
• Low water pressure.
• Age of system.
• Inferior material was used.
• Water quality concerns.

Galvanized lines are very common in older homes. Because of age they can corrode and leak. They can pinhole leak through the wall of a pipe or fitting or galvanized piping can leak at an old fitting. Galvanized piping material must also be installed or adapted to newer material in a very specific way, connecting the wrong type of material without the correct method will cause electrolysis and failure.

Aside from leaks, because galvanized pipe is a steel, as it gets older it tends to rust itself closed. This causes water to reduce in flow, can clog up aerators and inner workings of valves and faucets with rust particles, and also is often noticed by discoloration - usually a rust or black color.

 Materials:

Day & Nite Plumbing & Heating has a crew of experienced services plumbers that services commercial and residential plumbing. Our plumbing technicians have seen and repaired all different kinds of piping material in our area. From all different kinds of plastic piping including the newer crossed-link polyethylene (PEX) to copper and older galvenized piping. So, when Day & Nite Plumbing & Heating is selecting a product for your application we are drawing from the experience of our plumbers who know what products are good and safe to use and know which products tend to be more problematic. This is especially important to us because we want our customer to have a trouble free piping system for many years and we warranty our waterlines and repipes for two years Parts & Labor.

Though copper piping is still a good product there are products now available to us that have made repipes and replacing a water line more affordable & long lasting. Typically these products are a plastic piping system of one kind or another, however there are plastic products, though they meet code requirements, Day & Nite Plumbing & Heating would not recommend because of some of our repair experience & first hand application. For repiping the potable water pipes in a home crossed-link polyethylene (PEX) piping with the Viega system is an excellent system. The right material for the right job can save you time and money and offer a good, long lasting, & safe solution installed by a professional.

 DRAIN CLEANING:

Hydro Jet Drain Treatment & Maintenance Camera & Locate

One of the most inconvenient problems of all is a clogged drain. The inability to flush your toilet, take a shower, or do the dishes without waste water backing up into your home or business. Drains are not meant to clog. Typically there is a reason a drain is backing up; roots infiltration, improperly installed drain line, old piping, or maybe just too much stuff or the wrong stuff was put down the drain.

At Day & Nite Plumbing & Heating our plumbers are equipped with drain cleaning equipment right on their trucks including Cable Machines and Maintenance options. We believe in using the right tool and method to suit the circumstance of your job. That is why our plumbing technicians not only are ready to proceed with unclogging your drain when they arrive on site, but they have other modern methods and equipment available to them to help you. And, because we send plumbers to unclog your drain, our plumbing technicians are able to make a repair or replacement if necessary. That is why we consider ourselves a full service plumbing & heating company.

Hydro Jetting:
A Hydro Jetter is a machine that uses high water pressure through a hose made for drain cleaning to clear or perform maintenance on your main sewer drain. When conventional methods are not enough to unclog a drain a Hydro Jetter is a tool our plumbing technicians have available to them to scour a drain clean.

Sewer Camera & Locate:
With this equipment we can locate where your sewer pipe is and how deep the it is. This gives us the ability to pin point a particular problem with the pipe such as a crushed pipe or bad fitting in the ground. It is also a helpful too to see exactly what we are dealing with in a sewer drain. With the ability to visually see the problem and locate it in the sewer line. It really helps the decision process to determine if a repair is necessary, and, if so, keeps the costs down by getting a real good idea of where in the line the problem exists.

Drain Treatment & Maintenance:
Maintaining your drainage system is just as important as being careful of what is put down your drain. It is normally best to clear a clogged or slow drain by a mechanical means, such as a cable or hydro jet. Our Plumbing Technicians do have commercial strength drain treatment additives available to them as an option, but more importantly we have an environmentally friendly drain treatment that can help keep your drains clean. This product builds a bacteria culture in your drainage system that is designed to eat dead organic material. Bio-Clean is safe around pets and children and works well on sewage spill cleanup, pump chambers, septic systems, or waste systems to the city sewer.

Other options include annual drain cleaning with a cable or hydro jet. This option is often used to maintain commercial drains in restaurants, grocery stores, or factories and in residential drains to keep a compromised drain in service until a proper repair or replacement can be made.

Some heavy use commercial drains need to implement the use of a treatment injector to systematically treat a drain for heavy grease or dose with Bio-Clean.

Back To Drain Cleaning

Copper Piping systems are much improved over Galvanized. They tend not to rust through or rust shut. They do get thinner with age, use, and corrosive water. Typically copper pipe tends to pinhole through the wall of the pipe as it gets older and thinner. Pinholes tend to occur earlier on systems installed incorrectly, installed on homes using well water, or other high use or corrosive applications. Usually signs of pinhole leaks occur on hot lines first as hot water tends to be more corrosive than cold water. Often repairs can be made but usually, given the age of the system and/or how often repairs are being made it is more cost effective and less hassel to simply have a repipe done or waterline replaced.

There are also other piping material that are no longer made but tend to be problematic and difficult to repair such as blue poly waterlines and Kitec piping. There are other inferior piping materials and if this is the case in your home, though our plumbers can often find a repair solution, a water line replacement.
